Introduction
‘Speed, Strength and Sustainability’
Our engineered building system allows a network of reinforcement steel to be held within the wall cavity. The steel is held in place by way of the patented, recycled plastic Form Bridge and is ‘locked’ in the ‘mortarless block’ in the exact position specified by the design engineer. When filled with concrete grout, the wall becomes a structural concrete wall, or ‘beam’, making this block uniquely innovative.

Since 2001, George Ryder and his team have developed the FB Structural Block building system as the forerunner to a range of revolutionary construction products. The system has been extensively used throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East. Since the GFC, we have been concentrating on sustainability and innovation which has culminated in our new Eco-block and our transportable block manufacturing machinery for manufacture on site, and we are now ready for a re-start concentrating initially in the Middle East.

The FB Structural Block building system may look like a standard concrete block but that’s where the similarity ends. In fact, the mortarless structural system acts more like a concrete wall and meets all relevant international structural building codes.

The FB Structural Block building system is the only mortarless system that allows engineers the freedom to nominate exactly what size reinforcement is required and where it is to be placed within the wall. Three lateral positions, and one vertical, are available within the Form Bridge to hold the network of steel, and testing has shown that the vertical steel does not need to be tied to the starter bars when positioned through the Form Bridge. Once the wall is fully core-filled the wall effectively becomes a beam.
Construction
FB Structural Block building system was used on this project in Abu Dhabi to not only act as inter-tenancy walls but also to take the total load of the floor slabs which allowed a flexible, internal design to be incorporated within these apartments.
Traditionally, achieving high Fire Ratings often requires compromises – typically manifesting as increased wall thickness due to the installation of costly fire-check plaster. However, the FB Structural Block system transforms this narrative. As an inter-tenancy wall solution, it goes beyond industry standards, offering unparalleled protection against the threat of fire.
